Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Gustavo Villate, shared details about the progress made under his leadership. In an interview with América TV, he highlighted the expansion of connectivity access, Paraguay’s efforts to become a regional technology hub, and the attraction of Taiwanese entrepreneurs interested in investing in the country.
Villate emphasized that Paraguay is making a solid bet on Taiwan, working jointly with the government to revitalize the Taiwan Industrial Park in Minga Guazú. «We have already received visits from Taiwanese entrepreneurs determined to invest in the country, and we are working to provide them with all the necessary solutions for their establishment,» said the Minister.
Some companies already have advanced business models and are conducting comprehensive assessments of their needs to set up in the park. Among them is Masterbus, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and plans to start operations in December this year.
The concept of Paraguay as a technological hub is central to Villate’s vision. «As a country, we can be a connectivity center, a place where connectivity and services flow through,» he stated.
The Minister highlighted that the country is actively exploring innovative solutions to connect to oceanic connectivity fibers, leveraging the construction of the bioceanic route and the implementation of triducts to protect fiber optics.
In developing qualified capacities, Villate underscored the creation of the Paraguay Taiwan Technological University (UTPT) as a fundamental step in preparing the new generation of engineers and technologists needed for the sector’s growth.
«This will offer students an opportunity to learn from the best in new technologies,» he said, emphasizing the future demand for qualified professionals by companies planning to set up in the country.
With these initiatives, the minister reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to driving Paraguay’s digital transformation and positioning it as a key player in the regional digital economy. «Our vision is clear: to turn Paraguay into an epicenter of innovation and technology in the region,» concluded Villate, instilling confidence in the country’s digital future.
